My Bamboo Garden Nursery
My Bamboo Garden Nursery
I have a feeling your wondering what my first Daughters nursery looks like since my blog is called “My Nerd Nursery”. Well I’m here to tell you “Nerd” comes in many shapes and sizes. I didn’t do a fandom theme like a Harry Potter or Legend of Zelda. Even though they are amazing if that is what you are doing! (send me pictures! I want to see) for my first baby I wanted something simple and gender neutral. I went with a supple theme of a bamboo Garden Nursery.
We painted the walls a light teal and added a green “grass” carpet from Ikea. I wanted sort of a Bamboo Garden Friends theme. Like if my husband, friends and baby were animals living in a bamboo forest living on the Disney Channel. Wow! that’s a mouthful. we painted murals on the walls of her family but in friendly animal form. If this is the first time your hearing my favorite animals and the story behind the Red Panda you can read about it in my Gender Reveal Blog Post. Anyway, for the mural we had my best friend Jesse (a Disney artist, and Guineveres’ God Father) Sketch out the animal designs which I later painted. Between the Door and Library is a Fox reading meant to represent my husband. On top of the door is a Squirrel Writing (her God Mother). Behind the door is her Aunt Noelle as a deer. On the Left closet door is her Uncle Jesse as a Sketching Cat and next to him is her painting mama Panda. then above the window looking into the crib, watching over my little baby is a red panda. <3 I get so happy going into her room. the last part of the mural is the bamboo stalks behind her Crib adding the Bamboo element to my Bamboo Garden Nursery.
For her furniture, I wanted to go with a nice warm wood to ground her room with the light walls. The crib and the Diaper Changing Area is from Toys “R” us (RIP). Her reading bench is a thrifted gift from her God Parents. The Dresser inside her closet was actually mine from when I was growing up that my father had kept. <3 I got her light curtain from Ikea, but Guine slept better when it was darker so I went to target and got the black out panel. My Nursing chair is mine from the living room. I found it at a thrift shop and fell in love. Next to the chair is a side table we’ve had for a while now that I just moved into her room. Her lamp is a panda theme from target, that I have been in love with since I saw it. We managed to get it for our baby shower.
Like any other mother, Motherhood has gotten away from me and I have not finished her nursery, but on the other hand I like to watch it grow with her. For her first birthday we finally bought her book shelfs and put them up. We bought them at Ikea and I love them! I love that the books are on display instead of hidden in a bookcase. My Father also added to her nursery by making her a large ruler, so we can mark her growth. I love this idea because if we decide to move we can take her height chart with us. My plans for her ever growing nursery is to add a gallery wall and get the attachments to make her “grow with me crib” crib, grow with her.
Let me know in the comments what kind of nursery you made for your child. I would love to see photos! for updates on my babies nursery follow me on social media. <3
