DIY Breath of the Wild Party
How to Plan your own DIY Legend of Zelda; Breath of the Wild Party
Here is how I made my own DIY Breath of the Wild Party. A lot of work went into this DIY Breath of the Wild Party for my little Archimedes first birthday. We celebrated Legend of Zelda all though-out his first year and so we thought we would throw a breath of the Wild party since his baby shower was Classic Legend of Zelda themed.
This post will be an overall summary of what went into designing and making the party come to life. If you have questions or want me to go into more detail on specifics, let me know in the comments and I would be happy to make a blog all about it. There will be another post showing where I got everything for the party so you can find it too.
Decorations
Backdrop
Legend of Zelda is one of my husbands favorite video Games and what better way to share his love of the franchise with his son. We decided to throw a Breath of the Wild themed 1st birthday because his nursery is Breath of the Wild themed so it seemed so fitting! I wanted to show off the amazing scenery in the movie in my background set up. To start I used a custom printed tapestry (available in my shop upon request) to set the scene for my DIY Breath of the Wild Party. I hung (Dollar Tree) Gold and light blue plastic table cloths on each side of the tapestry. To top off the backdrop I hung a balloon arch of various shades of blue and “Air swirl” balloons from Party City. I finished off everything with a Archimedes Breath of the Wild banner. It was simple but effective in giving off the overall ascetic I was looking for.
Party Table
Working from the Bottom up my DIY Breath of the Wild Party table scape was small but effective and SO EASY! anyone could DIY this is a matter of Minutes. I started with a rectangle green tablecloth (Party City). Using a sequin gold table runner I draped from the center of the table to the ends. I used a Master sword I found at Party with to complete the look. On top of the table I found the most amazing leaf table runner to ground the look.
Table Decorations
My table décor is a fun collection of Legend of Zelda themed items that I either got for my Son or had on hand. Everything was printable or had a purpose. From the right, lets start with my Korok Plush. He was hiding behind the cutest cloud mirrors (Dollar Tree) he guarded the Rupee Rods. Under the cake stand I created a bunch of Silent Princesses (Blue lilies) and color coordinating flowers. (if your interested in recreating my look please let me know, I would love to make a tutorial). To the left of the Great Deku Cake I placed a Breath of the Wild link plush toy and my Silent princess bouquet, which was topped with a inflatable gold number 1.
My Centerpiece
Inspired by the Great Deku Tree and all the beautiful artwork of Breath of the Wild, Love Lorenas Cake Designs created this amazing cake! It made the most amazing Centerpiece for my Legend of Zelda party table! (Not Pictured) She even added the Champions symbols to the back of the cake! Did I mention it was chocolate! YUM! We topped the cake with a Legend in the Making cake topper from SugarPlumCreationsCo on Etsy. This made a amazing keepsake from the party. I later framed it with a Breath of the Wild poster.

Favors:
Archi’s first birthday arrived around the time of the 2020 Quarantine so everything was virtual. We decided to create party treasure boxes for each of our child guests. Each box contained Fairy bottle bubbles, Rupee rings, Party blowers, Hide the Korok Game and a Legend of Zelda cookie. Everything the child needed to enjoy the party from afar.
Korok Search and Find Game! Digital Download!
- An adult hides the Koroks based on skill level of the child.
- Child hunts!!!
- Find all the Koroks and get a prize! (our prize was the Rupee Ring, I was not able to find gold poop in time of the party)
Fashion
Fashion is always my favorite Subject. Nerd fandoms make it so much fun to dress up. What makes it better is when there is a Fandom event where you can go to show off your Nerd Fashion. We found a Etsy shop with the most adorable Breath of the Wild Link onesies! Linda Sumner Designs has the cutest nerdy onesies at great prices! I decided he needed some shorts for the party and so I found another great small business! One Up Handmade made me custom Silent princess shorts and dress for the kids to celebrate in. I love them so much!
Thank you so much for joining me for my Breath of the Wild first Birthday Party. Let me know in the comments if you are planning a Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild Party. Did my ideas help you out? I sure hope so!
