DIY Alice in Wonderland Party
How I made my own DIY Alice in Wonderland Party. A lot of work went into this Alice in Wonderland party for my little one year old baby. She had a great time and I can’t wait to tell you all about it. This post will be an overall summary of what went into designing and making the party come to life. If you have questions or want me to go into more detail on specifics, let me know in the comments and I would be happy to make a blog all about it. There will be another post showing where I got everything for the party so you can find it too.
Decorations:
I decided to make two different Alice in Wonderland party areas. The first was inside, it was the Queens Court. Since I was the “casual” Queen of Hearts this was my party table. On this table were most of the grown up foods. I decorated with painted white roses and a White rabbit stuffed animal. Since Guines birthday was right after valentine’s day I was able to find so much heart supplies to use, such as plates and pop up hearts. Instead of a forever chalkboard I used my dining room chalkboard wall to make a larger than life Guinevere Milestone Wall. Great use of the wall if you ask me.
Outside was the kids area. I set up the Mad Tea Party table topped with a Cupcake carousel and tons of custom painted teacups. The tea-cup photo booth was right next to the table and the pop up ball pit was provided for all the kiddies. *Special Note* I know that Onederland was misspelled in my banner. It was spelled correctly when the party started and somehow disappeared during the party.* Thank you. For decorations outside we strung up some white chunky christmas lights and then hung different colored lanterns matching our color scheme. I made the flower streamer banner myself. (video coming soon)
Other tables included the front entry table, which had our favors and Guest book for guests to sign and write messages for Guine. I wanted a not blatant Disney Alice in Wonderland book and this one was perfect. The Drink table was a fun table to hang around. I had two drink dispensers one labeled “this one makes you bigger” that had sweet tea in it ( Thinking back I wish it was a long island Iced tea) and the other said “this one makes you Smaller” filled with pink lemonade. The last table was the gift table. It sported a simple “Gifts” Banner and had my little Cheshire cat to help guard the presents.
Food:
I ordered a lot of the food for my Alice in wonderland party because I was the host and I wanted to enjoy the party and not worry about the food. I ordered the fruit tarts and scones from Publix and My in-laws brought sandwiches. We had fresh fruit and veggie trays from Target. Nice, Easy and Healthy. We did make some of the treats. I figured out how to make Eat me Cookies and Alice in wonderland Cupcakes. For the tea party we made Rice Crispy Balls (easy for little hands) and Fresh fruit.
I ordered Guineveres first birthday cake from Publix and it came with a Free smash cake. They even made the roses white and red to make it look like we painted them. Thank you publix for the wonderful job. I chose to just add the cupcake toppers to the cake because it matched to color scheme so well. For Guines Smash cake I added a little eat me tag. I think it came out so adorable.
Games & Entertainment:
Since this Alice in Wonderland party was for a 1-year-old and my family and friends, I opted for no real games, just things to do. I had a Photo Booth area and a pop up ball pit for the kids. I was going to have NoOrdinaryBalloonMan come and entertain all the little kids at the party but sadly only a few could make it. He still made Guine a Giant Mad Hatter Balloon. He’s amazing!
Artwork & Invitations:
All my Alice in Wonderland party artwork was done by me and is for sale in my shop (soon). I opted to not do invitations and just did a Facebook event. It made it easier to see who was really coming and if anyone had any questions they could just message me. Hurray for the future! But if you want a Printable invitation to match the party supplies you can get one here (Soon).
Favors & Prizes:
For Alice in Wonderland favors I found these adorable white rabbit favor bags and we filled them with candy eggs, Reese’s, Alice in wonderland Stickers and a ring pop. I wish I had tied a little “Eat Me” tag to them in hindsight. That would have been so cute.
I didn’t have games for Guinevere’s party because we opted to make it an open house. I did have a diaper raffle and plan to send a prize to my winner with my thank you cards.
Fashion:
Fashion is always a staple at my parties and I wanted something adorable for Guine to wear on her first birthday!
I found this adorable Alice costume online and had to have it! The link is a little different then the one I had. I bought Guines’ Alice one year old costume when she was about 6 months old on WISH. I wanted to get as much use of the outfit as I could so she wore it for her first Halloween.I was very lucky she still fit it by the time her birthday rolled around. After her cake smash she was so sticky that I planned to do a costume change. Since Guines birthday was right after Valentines day there were plenty of heart clothes to choose from. I found this adorable double heart number that perfectly matched my Alice in Wonderland Party dress. It was perfect. Thank you Target!
Now it was important since Daddy and I would be in almost all the photos that we were on theme too. I found this wonderful dress on Dress Lily and would totally recommend it! (Sadly it’s not on the website anymore). My Husband was wearing this super simple Mad Hatter tee that he was able to just throw on and enjoy the party.
Let me know in the comments if you are planning a Alice in Wonderland Party. Did my ideas help you out? I sure hope so!
