Bow or Bowtie Gender Reveal Party

Welcome to my Bow or Bowtie Gender Reveal Party. This was the first of the two parties I had thrown for me to celebrate our new bitty. My “Other Mother” Mary Hosted this party and planned it all 🙂 I don’t have any of the links but I can find merchants who have products that are similar.

First and foremost I didn’t want to normal colors. My favorite color is green so I wanted that to be the girl color and Mary chose Orange to be the boy color (Like a fox). We had our guests dress in the color they thought would win, which was a lot of fun for photos.

I worked with my talented friend Laura (owner of Tregeek) to make bows and bowties for all my guests. I went to Joann’s and bought different Blue/Orange Fabric and Pink/ Green fabric. Eventually I’ll get around to posting a bow tutorial but for now here’s one that I really like. (Link). I brought the stuffed animals that we have gathered for Guine and they were on display. Along with this possibly NSFW cake topper (link) that my Other Mother thought was the funniest thing! It happened to be a crowd pleaser in our house. Would it be in yours?

– I love how in this photo it looks like the red panda is censoring the word.

She also found this cute tally chart for bow and bowties. Looks like the girls were winning at the time. She found bow and bowtie pins for everyone to wear their pick. Mary did a wonderful job hosting this party and everyone had a wonderful time!

How to reveal the gender?

We decided to only tell my Mother and other Mother what we were having by having the gender hidden from us and placed in a green envelope. Mary took it upon herself to have several different ways to maybe surprise us with the gender. We chose to try the pinata first. To keep with the Bow or Bowtie theme It was in the shape of a bow and sported the Green and Orange colors! The Piñata turned out  to be pretty hard to open so Aaron gave it a try! We found it was filled with orange and green candy! No reveal there! Next we moved on to the cake! It was huge! Topped with fondant animals and the cake topper. At this point I would like to point out that Aarons family always has boys. There hasn’t been a girl on his side of the family in several generations. So you can imagine how excited I was when I saw Pink and Green in our cake! I’m pretty sure I was just vibrating with excitement! And there you go, my simple Bow or Bowtie Gender Reveal Party.

p.s. please enjoy these photos of when Merlin was small. He was so small and cute and light. <3 I miss that.

Origin Story

I’d like to end this post with a little story about my husband and I. We first met on the school bus, I was introduced to him from a friend of mine and we always sat behind them every morning. I started to develop a crush and would draw in my sketch pad some of the things they would be talking about. One day they noticed and we started talking. Moving into his senior year he got a car and didn’t need to ride the bus to school anymore. I was heartbroken. Since we were in separate grades we never saw each other during the day. I thought it was over.

Later the year I found him again one morning sitting in the band hallway. from then on we always hung out there and chatted. We went on a few dates and he later told me he wasn’t interested in me as a girlfriend. So I was content with just being friends. <3 On my 18th birthday we were hanging out at his house and he walked me home, that was our first kiss where he decided I was worth taking a chance on. <3

We dated all though college and he asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes! We were married the September after we graduated college, together I might add. Our wedding was beautiful! let me know in the comments if you would like to see photos and a post on how we stayed in budget and how I DIY-ed most of the wedding. Here we are 5 years later with a little one on the way. All thought out our adventure our favorite animals have guided our way. Me, a Panda and Him a Fox. That is how we came up with our under themes for both our Gender Reveal and my baby shower.
